Summary

The project “Build a Town” is an alternative method of investigation is limited to the public space of meeting, applied in the Central part of Alajuela. The same is focusing its efforts on the production of knowledge about the city from their residents. In a first instance, the present research is interested in delving into those intangible values of the determinants in the style of life that is projected on the site, under the desire to identify the particularities that differentiate the place from the everyday. It is for this reason that the research is a participatory nature, in which are involved people own site. In this case you opt for to consider to children, adolescents, and older adults for his starring role in the everyday life of this city and its little consideration within the processes of decision making on issues of city and public space. In the case of children and young people were conducted participatory workshops and in the case of older adults is carried out non-structured interviews in public spaces to obtain the necessary information through three filters of analysis: the use, the desire and the meaning. This participation resulted in significant aspects for individuals with regard to the city in the Case of the Central part of Alajuela to those who are called “lines of action” which are the basis for assessing the public spaces at the physical level. From this it is characterized and conceptualizes the city to make a plan for improvement in the same. In this improvement plan is intended to give design guidelines at a conceptual level for the different public gathering spaces of the city. The main thing is the process of generation of knowledge, to discuss the city to argue their processes of change. From this, the research means a further contribution to the approaches of investigation to abandon the positions technocrats of generation and possession of the knowledge and, on the contrary, include the inhabitants as an important part of the strategies of modification and transformation of the city and the public space from our discipline.

Summary

The project proposes an educational model alternative to the traditional, which will provide students a variety of learning spaces and, at the same time, integrate your community, implementing spaces for use by both public and private. To the difference of levels of activity detected between the north with respect to the area south of the city centre in the district of San Isidro of Crowned, it is proposed a conceptual plan of intervention to implement guidelines of design, generated from the theory of Planning. As the proposal develops the southern sector of the conceptual plan of intervention, taking advantage of an area with many potential and a main activity, as is the current Liceo de Coronado, who was not being exploited or projected to your community. The project Liceo de Coronado: Educational Community for the district of San Isidro of Vázquez de Coronado, proposes a different model to the state education, which is tailored to their community and break the boundaries between the educational institutions, its context and its population.

Summary

This graduation project has as its goal the design of a space of coexistence university to Farm 2 of the UCR. You want a space of an institutional nature that allows for multiple uses, is interdisciplinary and, therefore, it must be to have different environments. It is a complex construction that shows that the early university. The thematic axes that will help develop this architectural ensemble are diverse, however, the issue of generating a didactic Campus, the symbolism to the university, the character humanistic, respect for the disabled, bioclimatic architecture, are the main guidelines in terms of concept and form refi ere. It is worth noting the need for living spaces, places where the learning is spread by means of the architecture. The project Complex Square of the Autonomy consists of a Square, it should function as a stage of learning, coupled with an auditorium, and a series of spaces with complementary activities that promote the interaction of people with their environment. This space is viewed as a node, a downtown location and distribution of students and people in general to make use of this space.
